Refactor

Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 26, 2026 · Published by AppsKays Inc.

AppsKays Inc. ("AppsKays," "we," "us," or "our") operates Refactor (the "App"), a self-guided habit-tracking application. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By creating a profile in the App, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information you provide directly

1.2 Information collected automatically

We do not use location tracking, and we do not access your device's camera, contacts, or photo library.

1.3 Payment information

Subscription purchases are processed by Apple's App Store or Google Play, and subscription status is managed through our billing provider (RevenueCat). We do not receive or store your full payment card number — we receive only confirmation of your subscription status and plan.

1.4 Account linking information (optional)

If you choose to link a Google or Apple account — so your progress can be recovered if you reinstall the App or switch devices — we receive and store the email address associated with that account (or, if you use Sign in with Apple's private email option, the private relay address Apple provides instead of your real one) and your account's profile photo, if available. We do not collect or receive your phone number through this process, or through any other feature of the App. This is optional; Refactor's core features work without linking an account.

2. A Note on the Sensitive Nature of This App

Refactor is designed to help with compulsive habits, and some information you choose to provide — such as symptoms, triggers, or notes — may be considered sensitive personal information under certain laws, including state consumer health data laws. We treat this information with additional care:

3. How We Use Your Information

We do not use your information for targeted advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.

4. How Your Information Is Stored

Your data is stored using Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore and related infrastructure), which applies encryption in transit and at rest. Access to production data is limited to what is necessary to operate and support the App.

5. Who We Share Information With

Service providerPurpose
Google Firebase / Google CloudAuthentication and data storage
RevenueCatSubscription and entitlement management
Apple App Store / Google PlayPayment processing for subscriptions
Google Gemini APIPowers "Kayo," an optional in-app AI chat companion. Messages you send to Kayo are processed by Google's Gemini API to generate a response. This conversation is not saved by AppsKays beyond your active session.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your data with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at appskays@gmail.com. We will delete your data within a reasonable time, except where we are required to retain limited records by law.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to withdraw consent for processing of sensitive information. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at appskays@gmail.com.

8. Age Requirement

Refactor is intended for users age 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under this age. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us at appskays@gmail.com and we will delete it.

9. Anonymous Use

Refactor is designed to be used pseudonymously. We do not require your legal name, email address, or phone number to use the App's core features.

9a. Content-Blocking Feature (On-Device VPN)

Refactor offers an optional content-blocking feature that helps you restrict access to adult-content websites and apps you choose. This feature works by running a local, on-device connection (technically implemented using your device's VPN framework) that filters traffic entirely on your device.

10. International Data Transfers

Our service providers may process data in the United States or other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above, and, where required by law, we will provide additional notice.

12. Contact Us
